Yay! I am posting the first lesson on here! I am really working on improving my blogging skills I promise :) Today I was suppose to try and go over the Lord's Supper with the kids since we were having it tonight at church but sometimes what we plan is not what God has in store which is great because His ways and plans are always much better! So today our lesson was on serving others and the bible story of Jesus serving the disciples and one way he showed his love to his disciples was by washing their feet.
I know what some are thinking yuck feet! That's what the kids were saying some when I told them Matt and I would be washing their feet this morning while others seemed to be intrigued. We had one of their favorite worship songs playing which is Ancient words and then Matt and I had the absolute blessing and honor of washing your children's feet and not only showing them a way of serving but showing love the way Jesus loved and served his disciples. Words can never explain the experience Matt and I had this morning! My heart was just so humbled to be taking part in something Jesus was doing to his disciples over thousands of years ago and that he has seen fit to use Matt and I to minister to these kids and share his love in such a moving and powerful way. Yes your thinking kids and washing feet...crazy and messy but actually most were very grateful...of course you have your few laughs and giggles but hey their kids! :)
We wanted to show them we care and love them and are here not only to serve Jesus but others and them. I washed and Matt dried and as we went to each one before moving on told them love you and Jesus does too! So we thank God for an experience Matt and I will cherish and hold dear and near to our hearts! Thank you for the opportunity of serving your children! The scripture passage is below. This week and every week take bits and pieces and go over, question them. Take in each and every teachable moment while they have that amazing faith of a child. God bless each and everyone this week! We love you guys!

Jesus Washed the
Disciples’ Feet
Based on John 13:1-17
It was just before the Passover Festival in
Jerusalem. Jesus was eating supper with His
disciples. The Devil had already tempted Judas
to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that He would soon
die on the cross.
Before He died, Jesus wanted to set an example
for His disciples. He got up from the table and
took off His robe, wrapped a towel around His
waist, and poured water into a basin. To the
disciples’ surprise, Jesus began washing their feet!
It was the custom in that part of the world for
a servant to wash the dust and dirt off the feet
of visitors as they entered the home. Jesus was
acting like the disciples’ servant, not their leader.
Being a servant was Jesus’ way of showing love
to His disciples.
At first, Peter would not let Jesus wash his feet.
Peter believed Jesus was too important to be a
servant. Peter changed his mind when Jesus said,
“If I cannot wash your feet, you cannot be my
disciple.”
Jesus’ example taught the disciples that no one is
too great, too important, or too powerful to be a
servant. Serving others is how we show our love.
Therefore, anyone who chooses to follow Jesus
must also serve others.
